Role Overview: Senior Analyst / Senior Data Scientist I
Raya is hiring a Senior Data Scientist I to uncover insights that directly improve member experience and strengthen the core mechanics of the platform. This role sits within the Analytics team, partnering closely with Product and business stakeholders to analyze member behavior, shape product direction, and refine the algorithm driving many of Raya’s key interactions.
You’ll work across the core user experience—from matchmaking logic to content relevance—and build analytical frameworks that guide long-term product decisions. You’ll identify opportunities, challenge assumptions, build models, and communicate findings that enable Product and leadership to make informed decisions.
This role requires someone who is comfortable working on a fast-moving consumer product, combining technical depth with business intuition.
Key Responsibilities
Product Analytics and Experimentation
- Analyze user behavior, product flows, and algorithm-driven interactions
- Design and evaluate experiments that shape how the product evolves
- Identify opportunities to improve engagement, relevance, and value delivered to members
Algorithm and Experience Optimization
- Partner closely with Product to refine Raya’s core algorithm
- Investigate how features perform, why users behave the way they do, and what drives key outcomes
- Provide actionable recommendations rooted in statistical rigor
Data Exploration and Insight Generation
- Conduct deep-dive analyses to understand trends, anomalies, and underlying causes
- Explore ambiguous data questions and uncover new insights that influence product direction
- Build frameworks for answering recurring product and business questions
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work directly with Product Managers, Designers, and business leads
- Translate complex data concepts into clear narratives for non-technical audiences
- Support strategic discussions with evidence-backed insights
Execution and Accountability
- Own projects from initial question through presentation of findings
- Ensure that deliverables are accurate, complete, and actionable
- Use data to challenge assumptions and push for clarity in decision-making
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 3+ years in a data science or analytics role, ideally within B2C tech (e.g., dating, social media, gaming, e-commerce)
- Expertise in SQL
- Strong grounding in statistics, experimental design, and analytical methodology
- Experience partnering with consumer product teams
Tools and Technical Skills
- Familiarity with BI and analytics platforms such as Looker, Omni, Hex, Sigma, or Superset
- Ability to communicate statistical findings clearly to non-technical audiences
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated accountability and reliability in executing analyses
Behavioral and Strategic Qualities
- Curiosity-driven mindset; willingness to “pull the thread” when data raises questions
- Strategic thinking beyond surface-level optimizations

Work Environment and Remote Policy
This is a fully remote role.
Raya operates primarily on West Coast time, and candidates should be comfortable aligning with that schedule.
