In a world where economic freedom and wealth protection are more critical than ever, Xapo Bank stands as a pioneer. As a fully distributed team of over 130 “Xapiens” working across 40+ countries, Xapo is looking for a dedicated Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) Analyst to help secure its global operations.
This is a 100% remote, “work from anywhere” position that offers the chance to be at the intersection of traditional banking, fintech, and the exciting world of Bitcoin.
The Mission: Impact Everywhere, from Anywhere
Risk management is at the heart of everything Xapo does. As an AFC Analyst, the successful candidate won’t just be “checking boxes”—they will be the primary line of defense against financial crime, ensuring that Xapo remains a safe and compliant sanctuary for its members’ wealth.
The core of the role involves identifying, investigating, and preventing financial crime by reviewing suspicious transactions and activities to ensure strict adherence to global AML (Anti-Money Laundering) regulations.
Key Responsibilities & Daily Impact
The AFC team at Xapo is a global, around-the-clock operation. The day-to-day work is fast-paced and requires a sharp eye for detail.
- Onboarding & KYC: Conducting thorough Know Your Customer (KYC) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) reviews to ensure the integrity of the bank’s growing member base.
- Transaction Monitoring: Overseeing both fiat and cryptocurrency transactions. In a bank that prioritizes Bitcoin, the ability to monitor crypto-specific movements is a critical part of the job.
- Investigation: Detecting and investigating red flags related to money laundering, terrorist financing, and fraud.
- Regulatory Reporting: Escalating risks and assisting in the creation of iSARs and other essential regulatory reports for the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working within a diverse, global team to maintain the highest standards of quality and integrity.
The Ideal Candidate Profile
Xapo is looking for “Xapiens” who are passionate about the future of finance and possess a methodical, logical approach to problem-solving.
- Experience: At least one year of relevant industry experience within Fintech, Banking, or Cryptocurrency.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Criminology, or a related field.
- Knowledge Base: An entry-level but solid understanding of financial crime prevention and compliance.
- Certifications: While not mandatory, holding an ACAMS, ACFCS, or ACFE certification is highly desirable and will set candidates apart.
- Mindset: You should be self-driven, curious, and proactive, with the ability to manage high volumes of work without sacrificing accuracy.
The Xapo Work Environment & Perks
Working at Xapo is about excellence and autonomy. The bank provides the tools for Xapiens to succeed, no matter where they are located.
- Work from Anywhere: Truly 100% remote. You provide the workspace and reliable internet; Xapo provides the mission.
- Device Policy: Xapo offers a robust device policy. Consultants can choose a corporate-owned laptop or be reimbursed up to $1,500 for a personally purchased device (subject to MDM security enrollment).
- Learning & Development: Every employee receives a yearly budget for individual learning, from books to international conferences.
- Work-Life Balance: Xapo offers a flexible PTO plan and emphasizes the importance of recharging to maintain high performance.
